In 2005, Ballet Folklórico de Colores was formed by Sergio Padilla, interested parents and teachers from Puente de Hózhó Bilingual School to teach and perform the beautiful folk dances from Mexico for our Flagstaff community. The organization filed for 501 (c) (3) status that year. Ballet Folklórico de Colores is a community, non-profit organization dedicated to teaching and performing traditional Mexican folk dances in Northern Arizona. We strive to provide a quality dance experience to children in the Flagstaff community at an affordable rate. We pride ourselves in being an inclusive organization that fosters cultural diversity. We provide educational experiences for community youth, with outreach to the Flagstaff community in the performing arts. We promote and preserve traditional Mexican folk dance.

Sergio Padilla
Artistic Director, Choreographer, Dance Teacher
With over three decades of experience, Sergio expertly choreographs and teaches traditional and contemporary folkloric dances, bringing depth, authenticity, and passion to every performance. His dedication to the art helps dancers develop their skills while preserving and celebrating the rich cultural traditions of Mexican folklórico.
Jessica Kitterman
Co-Director, Coordinator
She helps lead Ballet Folklórico de Colores by coordinating performances, schedules, group logistics, and communication with dancers, families, and community partners. Her organizational leadership helps ensure polished productions while supporting the group’s mission to preserve and share the rich traditions of Mexican folkloric dance.
